ANNOUNCING ROSELLE PARK ARTS FESTIVAL’S  NEW ACCESSIBLE AREA

7/27/2019

ANNOUNCING ROSELLE PARK ARTS FESTIVAL’S  NEW ACCESSIBLE AREA. ROSELLE PARK ART FESTIVAL RETURNS FOR 5TH ANNUAL JURIED ARTS IN THE STREET WITH ACCESSIBLE ARTS ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28TH

The Roselle Park Art Festival returns on Saturday, September 28th with local, regional and professional artists, artisans and performers. This year the festival will also include an accessible arts division with adapted activities to serve individuals with all types of impairments.

“As we expand and grow, we want to do our best to include everyone so this is an exciting new addition to the festival this year,” says Pam Welch-Reinoso, President of the Roselle Park Loves Arts, Inc. nonprofit organization.  A Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and Behavioral Therapist are leading this effort which is being supported by Roselle Park Loves Arts, Inc.

The festival will include adapted activities in music/art/dance for those with motor, physical, cognitive, developmental, or sensory challenges. It will be held in the air conditioned Casano Center for those that require a space that is quieter, less crowded and cooler than outdoors.  Many activities along the outside Art Walk will have adapted materials as well. A “Fast Pass” to food trucks will be available to those caregivers/parents of people with disabilities who cannot stand in line.

The area will be equipment, including wheelchair, friendly, with adapted supplies including switch-activated activities, potentially an eyegaze activity, and high contrast colors/images for those with VI. Communication boards will be available in all popular symbol sets. We aniticpate someone competant in ASL will be on hand for those with HI.  People without challenges may participate in all the indoor accessible activities, but those with need will be serviced first.   The Roselle Park Art Festival is made possible in part by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, The Borough of Roselle Park, Roselle Park Loves Arts, Inc., Casano Community Center, Roselle Park Board of Education and our many wonderful sponsors.
