PERFORATIONS Director, Writer, Produer: Slobodan Tomić Croatia 3D animation The film "Perforations" shows the fragility of our civilization. The film has a non-classical narrative structure. it is made up of five short films: Temple, Decline, Exodus, Death factory and Necropolis. A surrealistic illustration of the civilization in its religious and technological doubt. The clash of two opposite principles stimulates alienation, exodus, technological suicide. In the end, the demolition of the Temple represents a tragically release from the civilization's identity paradigm. Additionally, the anxiety is intensified by music and the expressive contrasts of the black-and-white interwoven with the elements of the cold architecture. (9:28)

Film director Martin Scorsese said, "the difficulty with documentaries often comes during the editing when a story must be crafted from the "rubble" -- the bits and pieces that have been gathered along the way." Taking the bits and pieces to create a socially conscious film requires talent and technique. Watch how these filmmakers use craft a story. Filmmakers will speak about their films.

UNARMED PERSPECTIVE: Answers in Unexpected Places Director: Julianne Reynolds Writers: Julianne Reynolds, Scott Krueger Key Cast: Claudia Wilsey Bright, Corrine Champaigny, Kyle Chandler, Satya Gopalan United States A small film crew from the US travels across the world to India to make a documentary for the non-profit organization Global Watch Trust, which works with orphans in Tamil Nadu. They are heartbroken to find out after filming for 2 weeks in the villages of India, that another school in the US had made front line news following a random gun shooting. This Parkland, Florida shooting hit hard. While the film crew was fully involved with their documentary project in India, they soon had to process the plight of their own country's inability to address the issues of its privileged youth in the suburbs of the US, and why so many of them are shooting each other. In order to understand this, they set out to seek answers in the present moment of village India. What they find becomes more than just facts, but spiritual awakening to the essence of life. (5:00)
